Whether you're here with your students, co-workers, organizational members or family and friends; the team here at Bark Lake wants to make sure that you get the most out of our programs. We can adapt each program to match your goals to ensure we deliver your desired outcome. The below areas of focus reflect the styles of programming we can deliver to your participants.
The main focus of this program is having fun and allowing everyone to have a fair opportunity to try the activity. It is less about debriefing the process and more of a focus on the experience itself. This type of program can encourage individuals to step out of their comfort zone and explore something new simply for the sake of having fun and putting a smile on your face. This type of programming great for yearend celebrations, weddings or family and friend gatherings.
Example: Low ropes
Recreational: Working together in small groups, everyone will get a chance to climb on the course and change roles as the group moves across the elements.
The main focus of this program is intentional development of the individual or group. Everyone will be set up in a similar way, but each individual may not experience the same outcomes as the next person depending on their role. There is a larger focus on processing the experience and digging deeper into 'why'. This also allows individuals to overcome (and enjoy!) challenging and unfamiliar experiences that test and develop their physical, social and interpersonal skills.
Main outcomes can be focused on:
Example: Low ropes
Leadership: The group will be split into smaller groups. Each small group will be given a role. These roles are very integral to completing the challenge and everyone must work together to complete the common goal. By learning that everyone has a role and that role may be different from one another, a team is formed and the task can be completed successfully.
This program allows the group or individual to learn classroom based knowledge, skills and concepts but that are instead taught in a hands on environment. They will be engaged in programming that is suited to, or follows the Ontario curriculum.
Example: Low ropes
Curriculum based: Individuals can examine the physics aspect of energy and force as they move through the course. The group will have to work together on the course by moving, stretching, lifting, and balancing; which can be linked to the Physical Education curriculum.
This would involve programs being developed with a mixture of the above categories. It can involve activities with different outcomes based on which categories are chosen.
Example: Low Ropes (Recreational) High Ropes (Leadership) Canoe Lesson (Curriculum) Archery (Leadership) etc.
