Bark Lake Musings for Late January (catchy title, eh?)
What a crazy past couple of weeks!
Temperatures have been all over the place; from the high single digits down to almost -40C. We lost a good chunk of snow but now have about 30cm of ice on the lake.
This past weekend we hosted the ECOAAopens in a new window (East Central Ontario Art Association) for their annual winter retreat. Several of the artists have left original artwork of Bark Lake for us to sell. Check-out the pieces in the Main Office.
Yesterday a group of eager students arrived from Central Ontario. They will be spending the next five days on-site doing some amazing SCIENCE!
In the next couple of days and weeks we will be at a variety of events:
- February 2nd from 11:00am until 2:00pm we will be at the Conference of Independent School’s Travel and Experiential Education Fairopens in a new window at Royal St. George College.
- Feb 9th from 1:00pm until 4:00pm we will be hosting the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust’s opens in a new window“Critters in the Winter” snowshoe hike.

Lastly… on a personal note: We’ve recently have had a fox hanging around the office. I think it was interested in what the artists were doing (it followed some of their tracks out behind the office). I haven’t been able to get a nice picture of it yet, but I keep trying.
