Herbertisme - Initiatives

HEBERTISME
The Bark Lake Herbertisme/Initiatives Course is an extensive part of our Total Outdoor Leadership Experience. Herbertisme is based on French Naval Officer's training process to develop positive self-image in new recruits. The facilitation of groups using specific equipment, personal tools and resources in the problem solving process to allow for a personal degree of challenge in a team situation. The opportunity for the Bark Lake Staff to work with individual groups on specific needs and focuses (i.e. school groups, corporate team building, communication and problem solving skills) adds to the challenge and the experience. By communicating with our client, we are able to focus on areas of desired outcome and work as a team to accomplish the goals set out by participants, clients, or organizations.

INITITATIVES
Through our interactive initiatives, the Bark Lake Staff are able to center on many topics for focus and debrief. Some of these topics include Consensus Building, Team Building, Problem Solving Skills, Communication Skills, Conflict Resolution, Anger Management, Positive Group Dynamics, and of course having FUN! These can be done as part of active program, or during a Herbertisme session.

LOW ROPES ELEMENTS
The physical Low Ropes elements include the classics Telephone Pole Shuffle, Short & Long Tension Travers, Multi-vine, Spiders Web, 3-D Spiders Web, Triangular Travers, and many more. The Bark Lake Staff are trained in the classic presentations of these elements as well as up to date, innovative processes to take these classics one-step further for those who have previously experienced these fantastic elements.

FACILITATION
The facilitation and the debrief process is a key to the learning and experience that is had by the participants. Through innovative and interactive communication skills, our facilitators take the group through the safety protocol to ensure a positive experience. This allows each participant to process and learn from their experiences. The Debrief is a tool that becomes unique to each group. Some of the different types of Debrief processes that are often utilized at Bark Lake are as follows: Solo Sit, Talking Stick, Talking Circle, Rate the Weather, Thumbs Up/Down, and many more. Our focus during our facilitation is 'What happened?' 'Why?' and 'Now What?' as well as how to bring these experiences home to their real life. This process is both personal and group oriented in its focus and desired outcomes.

CHALLENGE COURSE
The Bark Lake High Ropes Challenge Course is one of the largest in Ontario. The 24-element course is designed to facilitate single and dual participation on most elements. Our philosophy of our course is simple. We believe that the only thing in life that an individual has complete control over in their life is their personal decisions. With the support network that we develop on the ground with at least 5 people putting one person in the air we encourage the closest experience to "real life" that is possible. The individual who is on the course will have a support network encouraging their progress while taking each step, one at a time, at their own level of expectation and with their personal desired out come.
