Facilities

Bark Lake Leadership Centre is located between the Haliburton Highlands and Kawartha Lakes. Our remote setting is 500 acres of pristine privately owned land surrounded by a further 2000 acres of Crown Land. Ours are the only buildings in sight.

Year Round Meeting Facilities

The Oak Centre accommodates 68 people.
This building is wheelchair accessible.  Meeting areas include a large lounge with two fireplaces and two smaller break-out rooms; chairs, tables, white boards, 2 kitchenettes, fireplaces, and deck, located in the central part of camp.


Balsam Lakeside accommodates 80 people.
A large year-round meeting area that is ideal for classroom and indoor activity space.  Balsam is wheelchair accessible.  White boards, tables and chairs are available.

Balsam Roadside accommodates 36 people.
Another classroom style meeting space, with a small break out room that is also wheelchair accessible. Washroom, white board, tables and chairs are available.

Tamarack Lodge accommodates 36 people
A school portable style meeting area with a mudroom, storage areas, whiteboard and bathroom.  Table and chairs are available.

Seasonal Meeting Areas  

Pine Lodge accommodates 36 people.
An open concept “portable” style meeting area; this lodge is by the Pine and Maple accommodations

Craft Shop accommodates 30 people.
The craft building has both indoor and outdoor facilities; its use must be prearranged.  Equipment and supplies for nature craft and arts and craft programs are available. 

Pavilion accommodates 100 people.
Covered open air space ideal for weddings or rainy day programming; wheelchair accessible

The Recreation Centre accommodates 120 people.
A large open-concept room used for a meeting space, recreational activities, and supervised free time.  Also includes a screened porch with table tennis, equipment storage area and small auxiliary room.

 

 
Outdoor Teaching Areas  

Canoe Beach accommodates 250 people
Centrally located with lots of benches, under the Dining Hall Deck; firewood storage hut located adjacent to campfire area. This is a central meeting area for groups, activities and campfires.

Second Beach accommodates 250 people
This is a large sand beach within a 10 minute hike from the main site featuring a shallow designated swim area.  Lifeguards needed. 

Oak Field accommodates 250 people
A large open field that ideal for active games and initiatives. Also has horseshoe pit at south end.

Aspen Field accommodates 150 people
Located by the Aspen section, it is an ideal location for winter programming, our SOLE camp, and other retreats.

Dining Hall Field accommodates 150 people
Open field between lake and marsh.  It is an ideal location for introductory programs and lessons, initiatives, active games, and many other uses. 

Flag Pole Point accommodates 40 people
A beautiful location, with historical significance, overlooking Bark Lake Leadership Centre is often used for quiet reflections. It is well known for its view of the setting sun. 

Archery Field accommodates 40 people
A small field surrounded by forest.  Its proximity to the central part of camp allows it to be versatile.

MNR Dam Field accommodates 40 people
This is a small private location, ideal for cookouts, small group activities, initiatives and reflections. 

 

 
Outdoor Learning Opportunities  

Aspen Woods accommodates 250 people
Is a natural forest boundary for active ecology, orienteering, navigation and experiential games.

Hiking Trail system
Over 25 kilometers of trails with various levels of difficulty. Lakota trail is a self or guided interpretive trail; please contact us for more information at: sales@barklake.com
