A Little Part of History
As some of you may or may not know, one of the Bark Lake Leadership and Conference Centre’s historical cabin is undergoing renovations. We are very excited to announce that the Bark Lodge which was built in the mid 1930’s is finally getting the attention it deserves!
For the past 10 years the fate of the Bark Lodge was unknown due to one of Mother Nature’s destructive creatures. Carpenter Ants were causing extreme havoc to this once gorgeous building.
A big thanks to Mr. Pat Hurley, General Manager and Mr. Murray Smith, Project Manager from our Head Office in Hamilton for seeing the potential in this beautiful cabin! These 2 gentlemen could not bare the fact that this building was ready for demolition, with vision and passion they started the ball rolling on the restoration project.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Canadian Log Homes and Schilthuis Construction. They have worked very hard to save Bark Lodge and bring this building back to its original state… along with some new additions.
We are hoping by this Spring 2017, Bark Lodge will be complete and ready for visiting!
